Hi, I’m Ryan.

I completed my B.A. in Psychology at UBC.

Senior Distress Services Volunteer (Former), Crisis Intervention & Suicide Prevention Centre of BC

I understand how challenging it can be to break free from depression, stress, and anxiety.

I have been counselling people suffering with these issues since 2012.

I can also speak from own experience. When I was younger I dropped out of post-secondary school several times due to my own struggles with depression, anxiety, and stress. I was searching for a deeper meaning, purpose, and source of happiness, that I wasn’t finding in my textbooks. I continued on my own journey, delving into spirituality, mindfulness, and meditation. I traveled. I even spent two years in a Buddhist monastery. In the long run, my anguish helped me to discover my own path, goals, and strengths. I realized that I had a deep interest in psychology and spirituality, and a passion to help people. Becoming a counsellor was a natural choice for me, and I love what I do.

I understand that depression and anxiety can be a major source of suffering, and can limit people from stepping into their potential. But these same challenges can also be opportunities for making significant positive changes, discovering strengths, and finding purpose and direction. This is why I am so passionate about helping people: I want to help people to climb out of the despair of depression, overcome their anxiety, and cope with stress well, so that they can flourish and become a happier and healthier version of themselves. I have a life I enjoy living, and I have work worth getting up for in the morning: I hope to help you feel the same!

My training and personal experiences have taught me the value of looking below the surface to discover what really makes life fun, meaningful, and purposeful. Short-term and long-term goals naturally flow from this. My learning path, training, volunteer and work experiences, and ongoing personal development, have all contributed to my ability to counsel well. I continue my own process of growth through reading and reflection, participation in a men’s group, a general focus on health and wellness, and by trying new things. I know firsthand how counselling can help people to clarify their purpose and direction, and make positive changes in their lives.

My goal is to help you find purpose, clarity, direction, and to rediscover your own energy, creativity, and path to fulfillment. I am confident that, with your potential and intention, coupled with my experience and training, we can have a counselling experience that will help you to live a happier, more vibrant, and meaningful life.
